A Spring JMU-Grad Session

Lexi and Moriah are dear friends of mine, so I was truly honored when they asked me to take their JMU graduation photos. We scheduled their session for the first week of April, and I’m so glad we did. Campus was already buzzing with students and photographers capturing grad photos, but it still felt manageable. We were fortunate enough to only have a short wait at the fountain, because as graduation gets closer, the lines (and the chaos) definitely ramp up.
We chose three iconic spots for their portraits: the columns, the quad, and the fountain. By getting creative with posing and angles (and with a little editing magic) it looked like Lexi and Moriah had the campus all to themselves. Visiting all three locations took us a little over an hour total. If they had wanted to add outfit changes, we likely would have needed closer to an hour and a half.
My biggest tip for scheduling your JMU graduation portraits? Book early. Waiting until the last minute can mean spending precious session time standing in line instead of in front of the camera. And if the weather doesn’t cooperate, rescheduling during peak grad season can quickly turn into a headache. A little planning goes a long way, and your future self will thank you.
A few key things to note about your JMU graduation portraits:
One of the core parts of my brand is providing the most fun, relaxed experience possible. I never want your session to feel rushed, stressful, or chaotic. The way I structure my packages and pricing reflects that intentional approach.
Classic Senior Package: This session is designed for just you. Because of the time it takes to move between locations on campus, I only photograph one person during an hour-long session. This allows us to move at a comfortable pace and gives you the most images possible without feeling hurried. You may wear up to two outfits, but please plan ahead for where you’ll change as outfit changes do count toward your session time.
Signature Senior Package: This package can be shared by up to 3 people and is perfect for friends graduating together. The session fee is split evenly, so each person pays one-third of the total. Each graduate may wear one outfit and will receive individual portraits at each selected location, along with group photos together.
If you’re hoping to include more than 3 people, just ask! The session length will need to be extended, and there is an additional fee per person — all to ensure the experience stays enjoyable and relaxed for everyone involved.
