ONE GIRL WITH A CAMERA

Rachel Dodson Photography started with just me—a girl with a little Canon camera and a desire to take pretty pictures. Since picking up a camera in 2020, officially launching as an LLC in 2022, and relocating to the Shenandoah Valley in 2023, what began as a side hustle has grown into the most fulfilling career.

My love for photography sparked when I had my own senior photos taken—the photographers made me feel beautiful and even took me behind the scenes to show me their editing process. Though they have since retired, I’m honored to carry on their legacy by offering family and senior portraits that are tailored to be a special experience.

TWO ARE BETTER THAN ONE

In 2022, my now-husband Daniel and I started photographing weddings together while we were engaged. What began as a fun way to work side by side turned into something truly special—now, we’re a husband-and-wife wedding photography team! Daniel works full-time as a flooring estimator, but on weekends, he picks up a camera and jumps right in. He’s always a hit with the groom and groomsmen, bringing that "bro" energy to the guys and offering a second perspective to weddings that make the photos even better.

We currently live in Broadway, Virginia and enjoy working on our fixer-upper home and loving on our new cat Phoebe, who recently wandered onto our porch and decided she wanted to live with us... the cat distribution system at its finest!
