My work has changed a lot since I took these sweet photos on a rainy day years ago, so I took a little time to re-edit a couple of my faves. I love these photos even more now!

Looking back, so many of my earlier sessions and weddings were rainy days. Even though it was a bummer at the time, I’m so grateful that I learned quickly to deal with bad weather and figure out ways to get great photos in any setting!

Some detail and getting ready shots from Emily and Andrew’s drizzly June wedding. These colors are just incredible!🤍

The getting ready portion of your day shouldn’t be stressful, but it almost always ends up feeling rushed and chaotic. How can you avoid that?

1. Plan extra time for things like people showing up late because of traffic, a last minute steaming of your dress, cutting tags off bridesmaid dresses, and other small things you didn’t expect to take so long. Trust me, wedding day time is different than normal life time! ⌛️
2. Stay organized. Booking a venue with a spacious getting ready suite (or choosing an off-site getting ready spot) will help immensely. A smaller space to get ready means piles of belongings to hunt through, waiting longer to take turns at the mirror, or the possibility of something getting dirty or spilled on. Dedicate an area for relaxing/photo ops and an area for all the personal stuff like makeup bags and shoe boxes. Oh, and the gentleman should practice how to tie a bowtie BEFORE their wedding day! 🤣
3. Have photos in mind. Couples cherish the candid fun photos of everyone getting ready, the guys playing some pool, and the moment mom helps zip up the dress. As quick as I’d like to say we are, GOOD getting ready photos take time to set up and require a clutter-free space. I often spend several minutes trying to get the space photo ready, so following number 2 will help those photos happen faster! I’ll work with you to build time for photos into your overall timeline! 🤍
