Booking Process
Booking your session is simple! Fill out the inquiry form, and Rachel will get back to you within 2 business days to get more information. Once you've selected a package and a session date, you'll be sent your personalized booking portal. This portal will include our photography contract, your invoice, and a questionnaire for the session. Sign the contract and pay your session retainer and you're booked!
Payments & Pricing
All pricing for session packages is available under the Portrait and Wedding tabs here on the site. Payments for portrait sessions are broken up into two payments - a $50 retainer amount at booking, and the remainder of the package fee due the day of your session. Wedding payments are broken up into 3 (retainer, 7 months out, and 1 month out). ACH transfer and credit card processing is built into your booking portal (we never see your personal info), but Venmo payments and well as checks and cash can be accepted if preferred.
Travel & Locations
All portrait session include travel within 30 minutes of Harrisonburg. Locations beyond that incur a mileage fee that will be disclosed to you during our consultation. Travel is included within 1 hour of Harrisonburg for all weddings. For our Warrenton friends, travel fees for both portraits and weddings are waived on select dates.
If you'd like to hold your session at a location that requires a permit or access fee, you will be asked to cover the cost of those fees, but Rache will help you with the permit and booking process.
Image Delivery
We know how hard it is to wait for photos! All portrait sessions receive a multi-image sneak peek within 48 hours, and the full gallery is delivered no later than 3 weeks after the session. Rush services are available if you need your images sooner. Wedding sneak peeks are sent within 24 hours, and the full gallery is delivered within 6 weeks.
All images are delivered in a private online photo gallery that is available for unlimited downloading and sharing for 2 months.
Print Products
All photo galleries have a print store integrated into them so you can easily print images from a trusted third-party printing service. Some of our portrait sessions actually include prints as part of the package! You are always welcome to reach out for assistance with making sure your images print perfectly. While you are permitted to print wherever you choose, we recommend avoiding retail print services, such as those offered at Walmart and Walgreens, as they may not provide the same high-quality results you’ll receive with professional labs. We've tried them and they can be pretty hit or miss!
Our Policies
A seamless experience is very important to us! We've created some important policies to ensure the best experience for everyone.
Retainers are nonrefundable as they cover the administrative process for your booking and secures the date on our calendar so no one else can book.
If you need to cancel your photoshoot and do not wish to reschedule, please notify us at least 24 hours in advance in order to receive a refund of your amount minus the retainer fee. We are always happy to work with you to reschedule at no additional cost based on availability.
We recommend arriving early to sessions, especially if you have children, to ensure everyone is settled before our time begins. Due to our schedule, we are typically unable to extend sessions in the event of late arrival.
Rachel will be in touch with you regarding any weather concerns and we will work together to work around the weather or reschedule to a better time at no additional cost.
Copyright & Usage
This can be a confusing subject so let's break it down! Federal Copyright Law states that all photographers automatically own the images they take. The industry standard is that photographers allow their clients a personal licensing of all the photos (this is outlined in the photography contract you sign). This means that you can print, share, download, and post all your photos as much as you want forever. Because the images are owned by the photographer, you cannot alter (as in re-edit), sell, publish, or distribute images for commercial purposes. If you have someone who wants to use your images for their business, please refer them to us so we can handle that appropriately on your behalf!
Photographers may use your images for their portfolio, social media, or other promotional purposes, but typically will not sell or publish images without your consent first.
Sharing the art we create together is the best tool to help others find us to get their own incredible photos. However, we understand that the digital world can be a scary place, so we avoid posting children's faces on social media unless we have consent from the parents. We also do not share images that we deem to be "sensitive" - basically if we wouldn't show it to our grandmas, we're not showing them online. We want to respect your private moments and are happy to oblige if there are certain images from your session that are "off limits."
